Bill is currently the Chief Executive at Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and a national board member of the District Councils’ Network (DCN) representing around 170 local councils across England. Prior to this he was Deputy Chief Executive responsible for Development Services, Strategic Partnerships, Culture/Regeneration, Sport, Housing and Community Safety.
Bill is Chair of East Midlands Crimestoppers and is a member of the charity’s National Advisory Board. During Covid-19 he was a member of the Government’s National Local Economic Recovery Group and spear-headed the national Rural and Visitor Economy Task Group advising senior government officials and ministers on Covid response and recovery measures for rural areas. Bill is a Director on Hinckley Town Centre BID and Chair of MIRA Enterprise Zone Steering Group. Locally he spearheads the Borough’s Employment and Skills Task Force and the Hinckley & Bosworth Health & Wellbeing Partnership. Bill is a Board member of Leicester-Shire and Rutland Active Sports Partnership.
Bill is a Chartered Town Planner, with a strong track record in regeneration and development, and has spent much of his career leading major regeneration schemes, having worked in the Northeast, Hertfordshire, York City and Bedfordshire (where he led on major new settlement proposals). He enjoys surfing, football and tennis.
